Fender Telecaster Bass

The Squier model that you can buy now is based on an upgraded version of the Fender Tele Bass made in the 1970s.
The model Squier duplicates today was originally on sale from 1971 to 1979.
A larger and more powerful humbucking pickup stands in for the original single-coil and there are some cosmetic upgrades, too.
The Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass TB, offered since 2007, does a good job bringing back the Fender Tele Bass in an affordable and great-looking version.
In fact, for less than $300, you can order one now.
The Squier model is as stripped-down and simple as its inspiration, with very few features to mention.
Made of basswood with ash veneer and fitted with a C-shaped maple neck, today’s Tele bass model comes with a humbucker pickup, just like the vintage model that inspired it.
Chrome volume and tone control knobs are about all you see on the top other than the large pickguard.
A string-through, dual brass-saddle bridge completes the hardware while a sunburst finish over the ash veneer completes the look.
You’ll be surprised at the quality of Squier’s version of the Fender Tele Bass.
While Squier saves you money by making its products in Asia from a special line of woods, electronics, hardware and finishes, this bass has a surprisingly sturdy and authentic feel.
